Hiram Dam Relicensing Presentation

Hiram Dam is currently undergoing relicensing by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, for the first time since 1992, with a decision on a Final License Agreement for a 30 to 50-year license expected in 2022. Constructed in 1918, the dam straddles what was once a scenic waterfall and prevents fish passage. There has been a rise in inappropriate use and vandalism in the access area immediately downstream. Relicensing is the best time to address these problems mentioned, and others, involving hydroelectric projects.

Sebago Chapter of Trout Unlimited will be holding a virtual presentation at two times on Wednesday, February 24, at 10:00 a.m. and at 7:00 p.m. We have prepared a 20-minute side presentation that provides information on the current situation and how you can help, followed by a question and answer period.
