Dams, Brook Trout and River Ecology: Implications for the Royal River Watershed

  • First Parish Church 116 Main Street Yarmouth, Maine (map)

The Sebago Chapter of Trout Unlimited is in favor of removal of the Bridge Street and East Elm Street dams on the Royal River in Yarmouth. Fish passage solutions short of complete removal do little or nothing for brook trout and river health.

Panelists Dianne Timmins, Jeffrey Reardon and David Courtemanch will shed light on the impact of dams and dam removal on brook trout migration, and on the broad ecological health of a watershed. The Conservation Committee of SebagoTU invites TU members and others concerned about the Royal River watershed to join us, become informed, and get involved in this discussion. Refreshments 6:00 pm; Panel begins 6:30 pm.
